The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the registration process for JEE Main 2027 Session 1, with applications being accepted until November 22, 2026. While candidates are preparing to submit their forms, the official information bulletin contains several instructions regarding photographs, educational certificates and personal details that require attention.
One important requirement is the submission of a live photograph during the application process, in addition to uploading a recent passport-size photograph. Candidates must also upload their Class 10 certificate or marksheet and ensure that their personal information is accurate.
JEE Main 2027: Live photograph requirement explained
According to the NTA information bulletin, candidates must capture a live photograph while completing the online application form.
They can use a webcam or the camera on their device. If a webcam is unavailable, candidates can scan the QR code provided during registration and capture their photograph using a mobile phone or tablet.
NTA has specified that the photograph must be taken against a white background with proper lighting. At least 80 per cent of the candidate’s face, including the ears, should be visible, without a mask.
Candidates must separately upload a recent colour passport-size photograph in JPG or JPEG format, with a file size between 10 KB and 200 KB.
Class 10 certificate is among the required documents
Candidates must upload a scanned copy of their Class 10 or equivalent certificate or marksheet.
The document must be in PDF format, with a file size between 50 KB and 300 KB.
Before uploading, candidates should check that their name, date of birth and other relevant information are accurate and consistent with the details entered in the application form.
The signature must also be uploaded in JPG or JPEG format, with a file size between 10 KB and 100 KB.
What has NTA said about Aadhaar details?
NTA has advised candidates to update the details on their Aadhaar card, including their recent photograph, name, date of birth, gender and address, in accordance with UIDAI guidelines.
Candidates should verify these details before completing the registration process to minimise the possibility of discrepancies during subsequent verification.
The information bulletin also states that NTA reserves the right to verify candidates’ details and photographs.
