The notification provides three years of upper-age relaxation for OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates and five years for SC/ST candidates.
Candidates awaiting their final qualifying examination results are not eligible to apply. The required qualification must have been obtained by the application closing date.
Salary and medical eligibility
The Station Master post falls under Pay Level 6, with an initial basic salary of Rs 35,400.
The prescribed medical standard is A-2, which includes stringent visual fitness requirements.
Importantly, the notification states that candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery or another surgical procedure to correct refractive error are not eligible for the Station Master post.
Candidates who do not meet the prescribed medical standards will not receive an alternative appointment.
RRB Station Master 2026: Application fee
| Candidate category | Application fee |
|---|---|
| General and other non-concession categories | Rs 500 |
| SC/ST, female, transgender, ex-servicemen, minority and eligible EBC candidates | Rs 250 |
Candidates appearing in the Computer-Based Test are eligible for a refund of the applicable amount after deduction of bank charges.
For candidates paying Rs 500, the refundable amount is Rs 400. Candidates paying the concessional fee of Rs 250 are eligible for a refund of that fee, subject to the notification’s conditions.
How will candidates be selected?
The recruitment process consists of a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by a Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), document verification and medical examination.
The CBT carries negative marking, with one-third of the marks allotted to a question deducted for every incorrect answer.
Candidates will be shortlisted for CBAT based on their CBT performance. For preparation of the combined merit list, the CBT carries 70% weightage and CBAT carries 30% weightage.
Only candidates who qualify in CBAT will be considered for the combined merit list.
One important application rule
Candidates can apply to only one Railway Recruitment Board under this notification.
Submitting applications to multiple RRBs or submitting multiple applications under the same notification can result in rejection and debarment.
Candidates should therefore examine the RRB-wise vacancies carefully before selecting their preferred board.
The chosen RRB cannot be changed during the application correction window.
